Each issue of Heliotrope is the product of many conversations,
and a great deal of hard work. The magazine reflects the talents
of a good many remarkable people.
Our Elegant Design: Two people are responsible for the magazine's
elegant look, book designer Francesca Belanger and artist Mary Frank.
Mary contributed the signature lady centaur on our cover. Various figures of Mary Frank's grace our pages; look
for new art by Mary in Heliotrope from time to time.
Our Editorial Policy: At each editorial session, one editor
has the role of simply listening, having never seen the text of
poems under consideration. We feel that this keeps Heliotrope
from being just one more tonally flat poetry magazine. We are rich
in sight and sound. Though our tastes differ, they complement one
another, and we are unanimous in our selections.
This Website: Equally the product of many talents and much
hard work, the website owes its programming and design to OMI Business
Communications, to Bill Shander of Beehive Media, the original creator of our website and
its patient Senior Advisor, whose constant presence makes it possible to
continue, and to others (Jim Farsetta, Jared Brown) who have helped us in
the past. All of these able volunteers have worked hard with Web Editor,
Victoria Hallerman, to bring the flavor of Heliotrope to the Internet. We hope
you'll enjoy sampling the magazine at this website, and we encourage
you to subscribe, to comment in "letters to the editor,"
and, if you are a poet, to send us some poems via standard mail.
